Visual signature vs. digital signature
| Visual signature (this tool) | Certificate-based digital signature | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | An image of your signature or name placed on the page | An encrypted seal issued by a trusted provider that proves who signed |
| Detects later changes? | No | Yes |
| Good for | Internal forms, leave requests, quotes, everyday approvals | Transactions where the law or the other party requires it |
Tips for a clean, safe signature
- If you upload a photo of your signature, sign in blue or black ink on white paper and shoot it in good light.
- Place it inside the signature box without covering text, and add the date if the document asks for it.
- Keep an unsigned copy, and don't post your signature image publicly.
- Sign only the final version; if the text changes, edit first, then sign again.
Privacy and security
“Sign PDF” runs entirely in your browser using trusted open-source libraries. Your files are never uploaded to a server and no copy is kept, so your documents stay private. It is free and needs no sign-up.
Tip: This is a visual signature for everyday use; some official bodies require a certificate-based digital signature.
