Text to Speech

Turn any English, French or Arabic text into speech, with a choice of voice and speed.

This tool runs entirely in your browser — no data is uploaded to our servers.

Was this tool helpful?

Paste any text, an article, lesson or message, and listen to it in a clear voice. Useful for revising, learning pronunciation, listening to long texts while doing something else, and for people with reading difficulties.

It uses the voices installed on your device and browser, so it works instantly, and you can choose the voice, speed and pitch.

How to use it

  1. Type or paste your text.
  2. Choose the language and a voice.
  3. Adjust speed and pitch, then press Listen.

Features

  • Multiple voices depending on your device.
  • Speed and pitch control.
  • Pause, resume and stop.
  • Long texts split into sentences automatically.
  • Your text stays on your device.

Tip: Edge on Windows and Apple devices usually offer the most natural voices. If a language is missing, install its speech pack in your system settings.

Useful ways to use it

  • Revise by listening: paste a lesson summary and listen on the go.
  • Learn pronunciation: type a French or English phrase, pick a voice for that language and slow it down.
  • Proofread your writing: hearing a message or article reveals long sentences and mistakes you miss when reading.
  • Reading support: for people with reading difficulties or low vision, and for children learning to read.

Tips for clearer speech

  • Pick a voice in the same language as the text — an English voice misreads or skips Arabic.
  • A speed of 0.9–1.1 is comfortable for long texts.
  • For Arabic, add diacritics to ambiguous words and use punctuation so the voice pauses in the right places.
  • For the reverse, use Speech to Text.

Frequently asked questions

Why is there no voice for my language?

Voices come from your operating system and browser. Try Edge or install the speech pack.

Can I download an MP3?

Browsers do not allow saving this speech directly as a file; use a recorder if needed.

Is my text sent to a server?

Not with local voices. Some “online” voices in Chrome are processed by the provider.

Does it read Arabic with diacritics?

Many voices use diacritics to pronounce ambiguous words better, but quality varies by voice and device.

Why are the voices different on my phone and computer?

Voices come from each device's operating system and browser, not from the website.
