Which watermark suits your file?
| Purpose | Suggested setting |
|---|---|
| Internal or confidential document | “Confidential” centred, 45°, 20–30% opacity |
| Sample of a digital product for sale | Your logo or shop name in “tile” mode at 15–25% opacity |
| Draft under review | Large, light “Draft” text |
| ID copy sent to one organisation | Text like “Copy for loan file only – date” over the image |
Tip for protecting ID copies
When you send a copy of your ID or passport, add a watermark naming the recipient, purpose and date. If the copy leaks later, it's much harder to misuse. You can also password-protect the file afterwards.
Note: a watermark deters copying but doesn't prevent it. Very sensitive files also need a password.
Privacy and security
“Watermark PDF” runs entirely in your browser using trusted open-source libraries. Your files are never uploaded to a server and no copy is kept, so your documents stay private. It is free and needs no sign-up.
Tip: For digital product samples, use tile mode at 15–25% transparency so the mark is hard to crop.
