Convert text-based PDFs into an editable Word document (DOCX). The tool rebuilds paragraphs, headings and font sizes and sets right-to-left direction for Arabic automatically. A second mode keeps the exact page layout as images inside Word.
How to use it
- Choose a PDF file.
- Pick “Editable text” or “Exact layout”.
- Click “Convert to Word” and open the file in Word or Google Docs.
Features
- Automatic heading and paragraph detection.
- Correct direction for Arabic paragraphs.
- Scanned pages inserted as images so nothing is lost.
- Opens in Word, LibreOffice and Google Docs.
What to expect for each kind of PDF
| PDF type | Expected result | Best approach |
|---|---|---|
| Text PDF exported from Word or similar | Good editable text | “Editable text” mode |
| Complex layout (columns, nested tables, backgrounds) | Correct text, formatting needs review | “Exact layout” if appearance matters more than editing |
| Scanned or image-only | No text to extract | OCR first, then convert |
What to check after converting
- Numbers and dates in contracts and invoices, especially where Arabic text and digits are mixed.
- Tables may become paragraphs or need column widths adjusted.
- Fonts: if the original font isn't installed, Word substitutes a similar one and line lengths shift slightly.
- Protected files: unlock them first with Unlock PDF.
Privacy and security
“PDF to Word” runs entirely in your browser using trusted open-source libraries. Your files are never uploaded to a server and no copy is kept, so your documents stay private. It is free and needs no sign-up.
Tip: Complex layouts (multi-column, nested tables) may need light touch-ups. For scanned files, run OCR first.
